Got up early to go to this tournament. It took 1 hour drive to get there. The participant just around 50. Mostly kids.
I entered the Open section with around 15-20 people. The game was joined together with the other category. I was seeded board 6, I didn't give my rating and even my name was misspelled "Ahmad Akmal" . Huh! I didn't care about it just entered for the thrilled of competition.
The first game, I had black and was paired against a kid. He did a touch move and i just let it go by. I won in a simple endgame.
2nd Game, I have white where I was paired against another kid. I won.
3rd Game, I was paired against the organizer daughter. She played well. I won the game.
4rd Game I was White. My Opponent Mr Gavin Tan, played KID. I had a very strong attack towards his king side. I won the game.
In the fifth game I had black and I won the game.
In the seventh round I meet Mr Garry where I lost on time .. I need to learn to get better in time management.
In the last round, I had Black. In the endgame I exchange my queen for my opponent 2 rook. In the end I had 4 pawn and 2 rook for his 1 Queen and 1 pawn. I was about to push my passed pawn when the time limit is reach. I won on time.
The final result is 6 win and 1 losses. I end up as the first runner-up. Not bad ..
